Credit hire market meeting 4.11.08
Over 100 representatives from 58 firms attended the CHO market meeting organised by AMA on 4 November.
The meeting considered some of the major challenges currently faced by the credit hire market. These included the current trading environment and economic situation, operation of the GTA protocol, the speed of insurer payments, legal issues and judgements this year and fraudulent claims.
There was a strong call from those attending for the CHO market to work as one going forward and it was suggested that an early meeting should be held between the AMA and NACHO Executive Committees to try and achieve this.
Further details on the day are available. Earlier the same day there was the AMA’s AGM. There were reports on the last year and a new Executive Committee was elected for the coming year. Members are:

The new Committee will have its first meeting on 10 December when a Chairman will be elected for the coming year.

The Accident Management Association is the trade association for accident management companies. Members provide services to motorists involved in accidents that are not their fault. These services include replacement vehicle hire, vehicle repair and legal expenses insurance.There are 31 full members who are estimated to account for 70% of the credit hire/credit repair market in the UK. There are 14 Associate members. They supply services to accident management companies such as legal services and fleet car hire.
The AMA is increasingly recognised by insurers, trade associations, regulators and the media as the focal point for consulting and finding out the views of accident management companies. Enquiries from prospective members are most welcome. Annual subscriptions for 2008 were just £600 per £1 million of gross turnover and may be reduced further for 2009.
